The Keith County Housing Development Corporation is working with the American Shizuki Corporation on an employer assisted down payment assistance program to help 19 of their employees purchase a home as part of a benefit plan. They received $106,000 for the program from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. The funds were made available through the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds for qualifying employees. KCHDC is assisted by WCNDD through a support contract.

Housing Rehab Program

Owner-occupied homes
West Central Nebraska Development District (WCNDD) has funds available for an owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program in Cozad. This program is eligible to families based upon meeting income guidelines. Program funds are made available for the rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes. Rehabilitation consists of any improvement required to bring the housing unit up to the Department of Economic Development Minimum Standards of Rehabilitation if the improvements are economically feasible for the property. Any improvements resulting in substantial weatherization, exterior painting/siding, roofing, and removal of any hazardous materials may be performed. All improvements must be physically attached to the property and permanent in nature. No building additions are allowable improvements and no mobile homes, or home, which is in part a mobile home, shall not be eligible for participation. Eligible homes are to be located within the municipal limits of the City of Cozad.
The first thirty (30) day application cycle will begin on August 23, 2007, and end on September 24, 2007. Program Guidelines and Applications may be picked up from Cozad City Office, or you may request an application by calling WCNDD at 308-284-6077.
Guidelines and applications are available online as well at www.wcndd.org. Completed applications must be returned to WCNDD at PO Box 599, Ogallala, NE 69153 and must be postmarked by September 24, 2007, to be eligible for the first round funding cycle.
